Our Mission

Making Integrated Mental Healthcare Available and Accessible to Everyone

EDI (Empowerment, Diversity, Inclusion, Inc) is a non-profit organization whose focus is to provide knowledge about the integrated mental health profession and opportunity to persons who might not have access to learning about what it is and what their role could be within it. We are focused on making integrated mental health care available and accessible to everyone in a way that is truly healing.

Our Purpose

Confronting Disparities

Studies show that many factors make it difficult for members of marginalized and under-resourced populations to become mental health professionals and further, to have access to quality mental health care.

Our Vision

Expanded Care Benefits for All

Our vision is for an expanded integrated mental health profession that includes practitioners of different races, ethnicities, languages, abilities, religions, cultures, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and economic disparities to serve all people in all communities.

What We Do

Mentorship

Coaching and support to students from diverse backgrounds and identities in high school and college to foster interest in the integrated mental health profession to help address a lack of equity in the field.

Scholarships

Scholarship funds to support the vision, hope, calling, and resilience of individuals reaching for a place in the integrated mental health profession.

Internships

EDI will provide opportunity for dynamic and comprehensive undergraduate and graduate internships with individual and group supervision. Internship experiences and preparation are vital steps in supporting the effective development of the clinician and to ensure the integrity of the profession.

Employment

A fundamental goal of EDI is to help to place talented professionals of different races, ethnicities, languages, abilities, religions, cultures, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and economic disparities to bring equity to the integrated mental health field. It then follows that part of the natural development of EDI is to provide employment and act as a resource to support the individual seeking to obtain employment in the integrated mental health profession.

Direct Services

Low cost, highly effective integrated mental health services and mental health education to children, adolescents, adults, and families.

the integrated approach

A combination of the traditional and the innovative, the Eastern and the Western approaches to healing and wellness

Evidence-based mind-body treatments such as Mindfulness Meditation and Trauma-Focused Yoga, have proven effective for the treatment of mental illness, especially when combined with other evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other interventions to treat mental illness. This is the integrated approach to mental and behavioral health treatment.
